8) 8th African Coffee Symposium: The African Coffee Symposium was initiated in 2013 as a way of involving the private sector as the key players in the annual meetings to discuss various policy issues affecting the coffee industry. it was therefore found imperative to get the private sector to make contributions in the yearly Symposium discussions. The Theme of the 8th African Coffee Symposium is: Ramping up Africa’s Coffee Productivity and Enhancing the Efficiency in the Coffee Value Chain. Comprising of five Panels and sub-themes: Panel 1: Coffee growing systems adapted to climate change. Panel 2: Financial and technical support to improving productivity. Panel 3: Social dialogue between stakeholders in the value chain: What cooperation for improved productivity and competitiveness of African coffee? Panel 4: Coffee quality and access to high value-added niche markets. Panel 5: National policies conducive to improved productivity and competitiveness of African coffee.
