50th Anniversary of IACO

Cote d’Ivoire hosts from December 6th to December 7th,the 50th Anniversary of the Inter-African Coffee Organization (IACO).H.E. Josefa Sacko, Secretary General of the Panafrican Institution, officially informed President Laurent Gbagbo ,the Ivorian Head of State on Wednesday, April 21st at the Presidential Palace.
In addition to the announcement regarding the important event, Mrs. Josepha Sacko said she came, most importantly, to require the High Chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Cote d’Ivoire, due to the fact that IACO, which is an Intergovernmental Organization, has its Head Quarters in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.
For this important event, the secretary General is also expecting the support of all 25 Heads of States of IACO Country Members.
Mrs. Josepha Sacko took the opportunity of this meeting with President Laurent Gbagbo, to regret the decline of Coffee production in Cote d’Ivoire in favor of other crops such as Cocoa, rubber or Palm oil while coffee prices are improving on the international market.
According to the Secretary General, all actions are being taken at IACO for Cote d’Ivoire to be the world number 1 coffee producer as he used to be in the past, because, she added, “the orchards are old and there is not enough investment in the sector.”
